Great news yesterday Not a Jewellery Box was accepted to sell on notonthehighstreet.com. I'm very proud as they only accept 5% of applicants. It will be a few weeks until we go live! Thank you to Victoria from love lammie for sharing her experiences with me. Ebay sales have really grown this month, definity due to xmas. I've got two new products too so that's exciting. Craft Fairs, Markets & Parties!!

Sales via the Ebay store continue to grow which is fantastic. I am considering investing some money into having a designer improve the look of the shop and help with search engine optimisation.

How things are moving on!!!

I am so pleased with how Not a Jewellery Box is growing. I started selling just one product the earring angel and now have a really nice range which includes some bespoke products. The first Connybear Bazaar went really well, I had some lovely comments from people and I'm sure I sparked some ideas for Christmas gifts!

I am now stocking the Little Book of Earrings - Designed and made in he UK the little book of earrings is a new product where you store your earrings in a book, perfect if you are out and about on business throughout the week or just need somewhere to tuck away your earrings.

I started to buy some Pandora Style beads to go on the rings that I sell, my friends and family started to buy the beads from me so I started to stock them to sell at the Connybear Farm Bazaar. They have proved very popular but caused a bit of a problem.... I couldn't find a display stand that I liked, I imported a box design from America which was well made but a bit masculine so I commissioned the Bead Display that I now sell. Interest has been huge and they have sold really well. Connybear Bazaar @ Connybear Farm

Things are going well on ebay i am just starting on Amazon but have a lot to learn. I am working with Connybear Farm between Newton Abbot and Torquay. On the 6th September we are holding the first Connybear Bazaar - a chance for local people to sell their craft, there are also holistic therapies I think the events will work really well for the area and were working hard to promote the event.

If you would like to show your works please get in touch. Our table prices are very good and the bazaar is indoors. With Christmas fast approaching I'm sure that if we get the word out all will go well.

Where is the summer??

This weather is rather pants! On the plus side I'm cracking on with what needs to be done.

Lots more being listed on ebay today which is fab, Loving the colours and photos of my new range of butterfly and gecko hangers, big thank you to Sarah for such wonderful designs, its a pleasure to do business with you.

Today I have learnt how to put links in my ebay listing which means more photographs, I'm really pleased and feel that each listing I do is improving, on the negative side I now want to re do the ones already done! how does the saying go "work leads to more work" or something like that.

Building your own website

I took a bit of a gamble with regard to building my website and decided to go it alone, I bought some software by serif. I had previously used sitebuilder which is provided by fasthosts but I wanted to do more than the templates allowed!

I'm pleased with the site notajewellerybox.co.uk I will spend some time developing the online store side once all my products are in.

I would say that I am fairly computer literate, but when it came to web design I was a novice, I'm sure a designer would look at my site and make a 1000 improvements but for me, for now It is sufficient. I saved my self £100's of pounds and have a site that I can update as I like.

The program cost around £40 so I would recommend that if you have the time, are happy to look to the internet to answer your questions then its worth a shot.

As my business grows I can grow the site and with any luck I will no longer have the time to update the site and will be able to pay someone else to do it!!!

Photography Headache!!!

Hi, well Saturday was a long day Becky and I spent the day taking photographs, it has amazed me how hard it can be... what you think will work doesn't and what you think will be simple isn't. We have got some good shots.

The glass ring holders proved to be the hardest, although the colour detail is only in the centre the photo makes it appear that it is around the edge as well as the centre. I need a light box so on the hunt for one!

Tomorrow I will be spending the day updating ebay and giving my listing a refresh, I think it may be a little longer until the templates are ready but anyway the improvments should help.

I also need to take the Accessory Board to Connybear Farm as they now stock it, which is fab!!! I have some new colour ideas so will be trying them out soon.

I'm finally feeling like my to do list is under control, or is it? Each night my mind seems to want to add more and more.



I've not been very active with my ebay store for the past few weeks, on Saturday I am working on the photography, taking good photos that do the very best for my products is proving harder than I first thought. My best friend Becky is a budding photographer so her help has been amazing.



Gavin from Phone Zone in Newton Abbot is helping me to set up some templates for ebay so my website and ebay store look the same. I decided to build my own website which has been a huge learning curve but incredably satisfying.



I've got a child and work free day on Monday so the plan is to sort out packaging for the Accessory Board and to relist all my items using my new template, its going to be a busy day.



I find setting up my business so exciting, its hard being a mum to Keeley 4 and Logan 1, working part time and keeping the house up to date, but it can be done! Lets just hope this works.
